Check Out the Quaker Corner
The FCS lobby has a “Quaker Corner,” established by June Confer and Carole Hoage of the FCS Trustees' Quaker Life Committee, with the help of a grant from the Sue Thomas Turner Fund.
The shelves of books and pamphlets offer insights into the history and beliefs of the Religious Society of Friends. What is the history of Quakers and education? Quakers and civil rights? How does one—be it an adult or a child—settle and center in Meeting for Worship? What is a Quaker Meeting for Business? Do you know what "sense of the meeting" means? All materials are available to be checked out by FCS parents and other community members.
FCS families who would like to learn more about the school’s Quaker values are also invited to the annual “Quakerism 101” series of evening seminars, hosted at FCS by members of Adelphi Friends Meeting. A new session just began in October. All are welcome.
