Admissions

Admissions Welcome

COVID-19 Status: While our campus is engaged in distance learning, the FCS Admissions Office continues to operate remotely. Admissions season for 2021-22 enrollment is now underway, and we welcome your inquiries.  COVID-19 has altered some of our admissions practices, but we are here, eager to speak with you, and happy to answer your questions.
“The joy of an extraordinary education!”
That’s what people tell us they feel when they enter our school. Students laugh, share their work with pride, and settle into time for reflection. Kindergarteners and 8th graders walk hand-in-hand down the hall. Teachers know their students and know how to engage them and ignite their curiosity—whether in-person or online. The joy of learning is palpable.

Welcome to FCS's inclusive community and unique blend of Quaker values and progressive education. We look forward to getting to know your family and sharing more about FCS. Our admissions process kicks off each year in September for the following fall, with an application deadline in mid-January. We hope you'll join us for a virtual admissions event.

Warmly,

Connie Belfiore Kate O'Connor
Director of Admissions and Outreach Associate Director of Admissions

Friends Community School: What's in a name?

As a Quaker school, we believe that intellectual education and moral education are integrally connected. Our core Quaker values — simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship — are embedded in our curriculum and our interactions with each other.

As a community, we are diverse and inclusive. We support one another in our day-to-day activities and in our larger endeavors as lifelong learners, courageous risk takers, and joyous peacemakers.

As a progressive school, FCS focuses on educating the whole child: socially, emotionally, intellectually, spiritually, and creatively. We recognize that children learn best from experience and meaningful relationships with peers and teachers. Our teachers meet students where they are and — through experiential and inquiry-based lessons, a child-centered curriculum, collaborative projects, and intentional reflection — promote deep learning.
