Faculty and staff have selected areas of the school that they would like to better understand. They will have an opportunity to review school documents and materials to analyze practices, policies, and approaches. Once the self-study is finished, it will be submitted and reviewed by AIMS and in the spring of 2023, a team of educators from other AIMS schools will spend three days on-site to interact with our stakeholders and observe day-to-day practices at FCS. We will be evaluated on 57 standards from AIMS, 29 of which are from the Maryland State Department of Education. 

 

After two disruptive school years, the self-study comes at an important time in the life of the school. Now in our 35th year, FCS enjoys its highest enrollment, a high teacher retention rate, and good financial health. The self-study allows us a moment of reflection. As FCS emerges from the pandemic, it is time to begin to imagine where our beloved institution is going. The self-study will offer direction to the school's strategic plan and will identify the school's priorities for the next 5 years.
