Turkey Boxes En Route

Today, each class at Friends Community School is donating the fixings for a full Thanksgiving meal, in a school tradition that dates back two decades. “Turkey Boxes” are now on their way to 19 local families.
Each family will receive a turkey, pie, potatoes, fruit, salad, cranberry sauce, green veggies, gravy, rolls, stuffing fixings, and apple cider. As donations came in to school over the past week, classrooms up and down the hall of FCS decorated their Turkey Boxes with uplifting messages, autumnal colors, and turkey-themed flair.
This morning, students pushed the overflowing boxes down the hall to the lobby, where the middle-school Heart and Hand committee double-checked that the contents of each box were complete. At 10 AM, a shuttle from the City of College Park arrived to pick up its Turkey-Box passengers and deliver them to 19 homes in the area.
