Boo to the Clouds

The forecast said rain, but that didn’t stop Friends Community School from celebrating Halloween with a costume parade around the Peace Circle and a pumpkin drop off of the school’s green roof.
Parents ringed to circle to enjoy FCS students’ costume creativity. If you were hungry, there was a box of Duck Donuts and an unusual combination called "Rock and Roll Turkey." An iPhone, candy "rapper," and a game of math Ken-Ken entertained. Misty Copeland and Frida Kahlo were there to inspire. A robot, eagle, and Viking transported imaginations. And if you needed a used car, it was hard to miss the dancing inflatable tubemen.

Today’s celebration concluded with the annual pumpkin drop--the first for Head of School Angela Garcia, who joined the school in 2019. Dressed as a butterfly, Angela was joined on the roof by 6th grader Kathy C.,who won the chance at the Fall Fair raffle. FCS Facilities Manager Dan Miller captured this bird's-eye footage of the moment:
