Brenda Walter

7/8 Science Teacher
“I believe in teaching to the whole child, not just academics, developing life skills, and practical understanding.”
Brenda began her teaching career as part of the Teach for America program in New Orleans before living overseas for nearly 10 years. She taught science at the Saint George School in the Dominican Republic and worked as a public health consultant in the Dominican Republic and for the CDC in Ethiopia. Most recently, she was a middle school science teacher at the American International School in Vienna, Austria, where she taught life and physical sciences, led a service-learning project around the influx of young refugees to Austria, and helped design new curriculum. She joined the FCS faculty in the 2018-19 school year. Brenda has two daughters; her youngest, Abby, is a 4th grader at FCS. Brenda has been a long-distance runner since her high-school years in Wisconsin.
