Van Nguyen

Teaching Assistant, Kindergarten
Director of Extended Day

“See what you can do to change the world!”
Van grew up watching her father build houses, an experience that informs her view of learning as building blocks coming together. Van joined FCS in 2017 after four years as a preschool assistant and makerspace coordinator at Media-Providence Friends School in Pennsylvania. The welcoming spirit of Media-Providence encouraged Van to find another Friends school to work in when she relocated to the D.C. area. Prior to Media-Providence, Van organized and ran the curriculum for children ages 5-12 at the Philadelphia Trans-Health Conference. She has also served on the Board of the Leeway Foundation, an arts group for women and trans artists working to promote social change. Outside of FCS, Van spends time with her baby daughter, sews costumes, and explores cooking (preferring to use food encyclopedias instead of recipes to understand how ingredients work together).
