It is often believed that tuition revenue covers the expenses of a school. Unfortunately, it does not. Hence fundraising is a crucial element in the life of an independent school. Here at FCS, we fundraise because we want to keep our tuition low and make our progressive Quaker educational program accessible to any family.
Last week, this community answered a call to give. In a 48 hour period, FCS raised $33,000 during our second Day of Giving. Current parents, alumni parents, faculty, staff, and friends of the school opened their hearts to FCS. This was historic for our school and a reminder of the impact FCS had, has, and will continue to have on the lives of children and families. The annual fund helps the School pay for COVID-related expenses such as pooled testing, professional development and training for faculty and staff, and enrichments to the curriculum.

Additional fundraising allows us to invest in our families. More than 40% of our student body receives financial aid. The Board of Trustees directs more than three-quarters of a million dollars to financial aid. Both are done to ensure that FCS is socio-economically diverse and stays aligned with our value of community.

On May 15, we will hold the FCS Virtual Spring Auction. The proceeds from this event go directly to financial aid which enables FCS to help families with the cost of tuition whether it is for nine years of a child’s education or just a few months during the pandemic.

I am always humbled by and incredibly grateful for the generosity that our community extends in time, talent, and resources. No matter how large or small, each contribution makes us a beautiful and beloved community.

In peace and partnership,

Angela
