“We can never know about the days to come
But we think about them anyway.”
- Carly Simon, Anticipation

Perhaps I am revealing my age in this week’s post. I can remember watching Heinz Ketchup commercials with Carly Simon’s song, Anticipation. That word is omnipresent in my mind right now.
The campus has been busy with activity. Classrooms cleared, furniture assembled, fresh paint on the walls, all with the long-awaited and much-anticipated arrival of more Lower School students in our building next week. It has been a delight and pleasure to have the Kindergarteners here this month. Their voices fill our hallways and they have slipped beautifully into routines as if they have been here all year. I am confident that the same will be true for the rest of our students as they get used to entering our doors again.

This has been a year of hardship, difficulty, worry, and loss. There is a great desire to return to normal. We know the limited hybrid approach we will take over the next several weeks will not yet bring us all the way there, but it takes us several steps closer. And after so many months “chasin' after some finer day” it feels good to know that day is on the horizon.

in Peace and Partnership,
