Over 33 years ago, members of Adelphi Friends Meeting began discussions about founding a Quaker school in Prince George’s County. Local Friends envisioned a small elementary school that would serve the needs of a diverse group of families in our county. Since early in our history, the communities from the Meeting and FCS came together in the autumn to celebrate the founding of the school and its continuing impact on our region.
Located in College Park, MD, Friends Community School is a progressive Quaker K-8 day school, founded on the belief that every child is a valued member of our community. We offer a challenging curriculum imbued with strong values of equality, integrity, community, environmental stewardship, simplicity and peaceful conflict resolution, rooted in our Quaker heritage.
